RentFair ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Andrew Felikian. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the RentFair mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide:

• Account information: name, email address, and authentication credentials when you create an account
• Unit details: address, monthly rent, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, square footage, floor level, and amenity selections
• Lease information: lease end date and tenure details you enter in the app
• Income information: gross annual income entered into the Affordability Calculator
• Negotiation context: optional free-text input you provide when generating negotiation emails
• Communications: any messages or feedback you send to us

Information Collected Automatically:

• Analysis history: every rent fairness analysis you run, including the address, unit details, score, verdict, and comparable data
• Usage data: how you interact with the app, which features you use, and when
• Device information: device type, operating system, and app version

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service
• Generate your Rent Fairness Score and comparable analysis
• Generate AI-drafted negotiation emails using your unit details and market data
• Display rental law information relevant to your state
• Show rent trend data for your area
• Personalize your experience and remember your preferences
• Respond to your questions and provide customer support
• Monitor and analyze usage to improve the Service
• Comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Services

RentFair uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy governing their use of data:

Firebase (Google LLC) — Authentication and user account management. Your email, name, and authentication tokens are processed by Firebase. Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Anthropic — AI language model used to generate rent fairness insights, negotiation email drafts, and rental law summaries. Your unit details, market data, and optional context are sent to Anthropic to generate these responses. Anthropic Privacy Policy: https://www.anthropic.com/privacy

Google Maps Platform — Address autocomplete and geocoding. Addresses you enter are processed by Google. Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Rentcast — Rental market data and rent trend information for your area. Rentcast Privacy Policy: https://rentcast.io/privacy

Bright Data — We use Bright Data's infrastructure to collect publicly available rental listing data from third-party listing platforms to power our comparable analysis. We do not share your personal information with Bright Data.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in the United States on servers operated by Supabase and Google Firebase. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain your account data and analysis history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Your Rights and Choices

Account Deletion: You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed from our systems within 30 days.

Data Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting us at [email protected].

Opt-Out: You may stop using the Service at any time. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account or data — you must delete your account from within the app or by contacting us.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
• The right to delete your personal information
• The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information
• The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
